About the Role
We are seeking a Legal Associate to join our Singapore or Kuala Lumpur offices, to bolster our team in managing cross-border business and regulatory matters. This role offers an impactful opportunity for a junior lawyer to transition into a dynamic in-house environment, developing the independence to navigate complex, unstructured legal tasks. The team is part of a broader regional and global group of legal and compliance professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Legal Counsels on a wide range of cross-border business and regulatory legal matters.
- Support regulatory work by assisting with license applications and ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant frameworks.
- Assist and grow to independently review, assess, and evaluate business contracts.
- Partner closely with business teams to understand operational context and provide seamless legal support for commercial initiatives.
- Draft, review, and analyse legal documentation, policies, and regulatory submissions.
- Conduct legal research and provide practical, solution-oriented support.
- Work collaboratively with legal, compliance, and business teams as part of a wider function.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Law with 1-3 years of experience in private practice or in-house. Experience in financial services, fintech, or having done regional work is advantageous.
- Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken) is required to review legal documents in both languages and to communicate with English- and Chinese-speaking stakeholders across APAC.
- Sound legal judgement, risk awareness, and critical thinking when providing legal advisory in a business and operational context.
- Good legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, reasonable degree of independence, and willingness to play a supportive role within a wider team.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
