Lecturer (Banking & Finance) – School of Business Management

[What the role is]

Join the School of Business Management as a Lecturer in Banking & Finance and help prepare learners for a rapidly evolving financial services industry. You will facilitate applied, industry-relevant learning, develop learning resources and assessments, and support learners in their academic, personal and career development. You will also work alongside fellow educators, contribute to cross-departmental projects and collaborate with industry partners to keep our curriculum relevant and responsive to industry developments. This role is ideal for an industry professional who is passionate about developing the next generation and keen to grow as an educator.

[What you will be working on]

• Plan and deliver lessons and learning activities that help learners develop practical, industry-relevant competencies.
• Develop and enhance learning resources, assessments and learning activities as part of the teaching team.
• Facilitate the application of learning through case studies, projects, technology and real-world industry examples.
• Assess learners work and provide constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
• Mentor and support learners in their holistic development, including academic, personal and career development, pastoral care, and guidance in projects, internships, competitions and other learning activities.
• Work with fellow lecturers to review learner feedback, contribute to curriculum reviews and continuously improve the learning experience.
• Participate in industry engagement and professional development activities to keep abreast of developments in banking and finance.
• Contribute to School and Polytechnic activities, including student development, outreach and industry engagement activities.
• Participate in overseas learning opportunities, including accompanying learners on study trips and immersion programmes, and support collaborations with industry or educational institutions.
• Perform other academic and administrative duties.

• Relevant qualification in Banking and/or Finance.
• At least 3 year(s) of relevant industry experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • AI and Data Analytics in Finance
  • Digital Banking and FinTech
  • Blockchain and Decentralised Finance
  • Fund Management and Administration
  • Consumer and/or Corporate Banking
  • Sustainable Finance
  • Risk and Compliance Management
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, collaborate effectively with others, manage deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
• Proficient in managing administrative tasks with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable with digital technologies, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and willing to learn and apply relevant digital tools as required.
