Key Responsibilities
- Co-architect the full trading stack (market data, execution, risk, surveillance, simulation, internal tools).
- Lead integrations with major crypto venues (Bybit, Binance, OKX, Coinbase).
- Build connectivity to TradFi markets (CME, Eurex) using FIX, ITCH, OUCH, and proprietary protocols.
- Drive engineering standards across code quality, performance, reliability, and observability.
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing strong architectural direction.
- Partner with founders, traders, and quants to define and deliver the engineering roadmap.
- Optimise systems for low latency, high throughput, stability, and fault tolerance.
- Support planning, sprints, and backlog management to ensure timely execution.
Qualifications
- 712+ years experience building trading systems, market data platforms, or exchange connectivity.
- Expert-level C++ (17/20) and performance-oriented Python.
- Proven ability to design and build high-performance, low-latency, distributed systems.
- Experience working with multiple exchange APIs (crypto or TradFi).
- Strong knowledge of websocket/REST, JSON, and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Deep understanding of network engineering, kernel tuning, and performance profiling.
- Leadership experience handling small engineering teams or complex technical projects.
- Ability to design high-availability and fault-tolerant distributed architectures.
- Experience operating in agile environments (SCRUM or similar).
- Strong planning skills in roadmapping, project plans, and backlog refinement.
Bonus Skills
- Exposure to quant and trading-related systems, such as pricing engines, real-time risk, options greeks, vol surfaces, and derivatives microstructure.
- Experience with ultra-low-latency or accelerated infrastructure (kernel-bypass networking, RDMA, FPGA, or hardware-assisted optimisation).
- Crypto-native engineering capabilities, including wallets, signing infrastructure, node operations, and secure key management.
- Strong observability and reliability engineering knowledge (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Jaeger, or similar).
- Cloud, hybrid, or on-premises optimisation experience (AWS preferred), with familiarity across CI/CD, security best practices, and container/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible).
- Proven ability to help scale engineering teams in high-performance or fast-moving trading environments.
