Job Summary
The Lead Loss Prevention Engineer is responsible for leading and managing all technical safety and loss prevention engineering activities for offshore Oil & Gas projects. The role ensures compliance with international standards, company specifications, and regulatory requirements to minimize operational risks, safeguard personnel, assets, and the environment throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all Loss Prevention and Technical Safety engineering activities during FEED, EPC, EPCIC, and detailed engineering phases
- Prepare and review safety deliverables including Firewater Demand Calculation, Firewater P&IDs, Fire & Gas Mapping, ESD Philosophy, Hazardous Area Classification, Safety Plan, Fire Control Plan
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety requirements are properly integrated into engineering designs
- Interface with clients, classification societies, regulatory authorities, and third-party consultants on technical safety matters
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support project execution schedules and deliverables
- Participate in design reviews, safety assessment workshops and constructability reviews etc
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as API, NFPA, IEC, ISO, and local regulatory requirements
- Support commissioning, startup, and operational safety reviews when required
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Loss Prevention / Technical Safety Engineering within Oil & Gas, FPSO, Offshore industries
- Strong experience in FEED and EPC/EPCIC project execution
- Hands-on experience in developing and reviewing safety design documents such as for firefighting system, lifesaving appliances, HAC, etc. is a must
- Hands-on experience conducting HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, FERA, EERA and formal safety studies is an advantage
- Familiarity with offshore safety regulations and international engineering standards
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to lead engineering teams and manage multiple project interfaces
