Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapores Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and experienced Arborist with a strong background in arboriculture, horticulture, or plant science. In this role, you will independently conduct tree inspections, assess tree health and risk, prescribe pruning, and promote best practices in arboriculture. You will work both as an individual contributor, managing inspections and reports independently, and as a team contributor, collaborating with stakeholders and colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
Tree Inspection & Tree Risk management
- Plan, conduct and document comprehensive tree inspections to assess tree structural stability, health and potential hazards
- Recommend and prescribe best mitigating actions to manage tree risks
Standards & Best Practices
- Lead the development and review of best management practices (BMPs) and standard operation procedures (SOPs) related to tree care and operations
- Deliver and advocate best practices in arboriculture with internal and external stakeholders
Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Impart arboriculture knowledge and technical skills through on-the-job training and outreach to enhance team capabilities
Project & Budget Management
- Administer and oversee budgets, tender processes, quotations, and contracts for arboriculture services and related projects
Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Plan and lead annual work plans, operational strategies, and resource allocation for tree management programs and initiatives
Job Requirements
- Minimum Diploma/Degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, Landscape Architecture or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the landscape industry; and Practicing ISA Certified Arborist for more than 3 years
- ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) will be an added advantage.
- Enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable with hands-on, field-based activities in various environmental conditions.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrates effective teamwork by contributing positively to a collaborative work environment and supporting team and organizational objectives
- Reliable and agile, willing to respond to emergencies after and outside of working hours, and perform weekend duties as needed
- Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
