Job Description

Missions

Note: This description is standard and only mentions the main elements, competences and missions of the job position. It is not all-comprehensive and may evolve depending on the company's needs.

Role Purpose

The LCL Gateway & Regional Support Executive is a dual-role position split between:

  • Singapore LCL gateway operations, ensuring reliable day-to-day execution of consolidation, transshipment and documentation
  • Regional LCL support, assisting the Head of LCL Ocean Freight – ASPAC in network data, reporting, procurement support and regional projects

The role is primarily operational, with a structured path to broader regional responsibility as competence and product knowledge develop.

Key Responsibilities

PART A – Singapore LCL Gateway Operations

1. Daily Gateway Execution

  • Coordinate and execute daily LCL gateway operations: consolidation, deconsolidation, transshipment and onward movement in line with service requirements
  • Plan shipments and liaise with:
  • Carriers and coloaders
  • CFS warehouses and transport providers
  • Origin and destination offices
  • Support cargo flow optimization through efficient routing and consolidation choices

2. Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare, verify and maintain accurate shipping documentation:
  • Shipping instructions and manifests
  • Bills of lading
  • Customs-related documents
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, customer requirements, carrier rules and local trade regulations
  • Maintain data accuracy and timely shipment updates in operational systems

3. Service Performance & Issue Management

  • Monitor shipment milestones and proactively address delays, discrepancies and exceptions
  • Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders on shipment status and issue resolution
  • Support achievement of operational KPIs:
  • Cargo utilization and load factor
  • Service reliability and transit time performance
  • Shipment and documentation accuracy

4. Gateway Cost & P&L Management

  • Manage and control the Singapore gateway transfer pricing and P&L, ensuring all costs and revenues are correctly captured per shipment and per consolidation
  • Monitor and challenge gateway cost elements:
  • CFS handling and warehouse charges
  • Drayage, local charges and documentation fees
  • Ocean freight and coloader buying rates
  • Verify billing accuracy, investigate cost variances and follow up on unbilled or under-recovered charges
  • Preparemonthly gateway P&L overview
  • Flag loss-making or below-threshold consolidations together with the underlying cost drivers
  • Support origin / destination profit-share reconciliation and ensure results are correctly reflected in the branch P&L

PART B – Regional LCL Support

5. Network Data & Performance Reporting

  • Maintain the ASPAC LCL network database: lanes, frequencies, coloader coverage and volumes
  • Support the regular performance reporting with the Head of LCL
  • Highlight underperforming lanes and data inconsistencies for review

6. Procurement & Tariff Support

  • Support coloader performance reviews and the preparation of regional procurement materials
  • Assist in regional tariff filing and maintenance, ensuring accuracy and version control

7. Regional Projects & Station Support

  • Support the implementation of new LCL services, gateway developments and regional projects as assigned
  • Assist in rolling out standardized LCL processes and SOPs across ASPAC stations

Key KPIs

Performance will be measured on execution reliability and support quality:

  • Documentation accuracy and on-time submission
  • Load factor / container fill rate on Singapore consolidations
  • Service reliability and exception resolution time
  • Timeliness and accuracy of regional reporting
  • Data completeness of the ASPAC LCL network database
  • Delivery of assigned regional project milestones
  • Gateway P&L performance against budget
  • Gross profit per consolidation and % of profitable consolidations

Required experience

  • 6–8 years in ocean freight operations, with direct exposure to LCL consolidation
  • Working knowledge of:
  • CFS and gateway operations
  • Shipping documentation and customs procedures
  • Coloader and carrier coordination
  • Good command of Excel and operational systems; comfortable working with data and reporting

Key competencies

  • Rigor and attention to detail in documentation and data
  • Ability to switch between daily execution and regional analytical work
  • Clear written and spoken communication across a multi-country environment
  • Proactive in flagging issues rather than escalating them late
  • Solid grasp of freight cost structures and P&L logic, with the ability to build and defend a consolidation P&L

Success Factors

You will succeed in this role if you:

  • Deliver error-free gateway execution as the baseline, not the achievement
  • Turn operational data into usable regional insight
  • Follow through on regional tasks without close supervision
  • Grow from supporting regional projects to owning them
