Objectives of this role:
. Conducting surveys using advanced equipment and techniques to gather accurate measurements and data, including topography, boundaries and existing structures.
. Analysing survey data and creating detailed survey reports, maps and drawings to support project planning and decision-making.
. Identifying land boundaries, markers and existing infrastructure to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
. Collaborating with project managers, engineers and architects to provide survey information for design and construction purposes.
. Assessing site suitability, analysing topography and evaluating potential risks to support project feasibility studies.
. Utilising software applications and computer-aided design (CAD) tools for data analysis and report generation.
. Monitoring and reviewing survey progress, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Your tasks:
. Carry out field surveys to measure and map land, using various surveying instruments to establish precise control points and reference systems.
. Collect precise measurements, coordinates and other relevant data, like elevation, distance and angles, to establish boundaries and features of the land.
. Perform topographic surveys to map natural and man-made features of the land, including contours, vegetation, utilities and structures.
. Utilise survey data analysis to create detailed maps, plans and documentation with Geographic Information System (GIS) and CAD software.
. Collaborate with project teams to determine and support engineering and construction activities, providing recommendations for planning and design.
. Ensure compliance with surveying standards, regulations and safety protocols.
. Communicate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers and contractors, to clarify requirements and address survey-related concerns.
. Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
. Follow safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork and adhere to ethical standards in surveying practices.
. Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the surveying field.
Required skills and qualifications:
. Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering or a related field.
. 5+ years of experience in surveying or a similar role.
. Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment and software, preferably in the Civil engineering.
. Proficiency in using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, laser scanners and CAD software for surveying and land mapping.
. Solid understanding of survey calculations, geodesy and coordinate systems.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret survey data and resolve discrepancies.
. Analytical and mathematical abilities with attention to detail in survey measurements and documentation.
. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
