Overview:
The Kitchen Assistant supports daily kitchen operations while also assisting with cashier duties and beverage/coffee preparation when required. This role ensures smooth coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house, providing efficient service and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. The ideal candidate should be flexible, responsible, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
. Assist in basic food preparation, ingredient handling, and kitchen setup.
. Support chefs in daily production, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
. Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen, equipment, and workstations in accordance with food safety standards.
. Assist with dishwashing, waste management, and general kitchen upkeep.
. Support cashier duties during peak hours, including processing customer payments through POS, cash deposit machines, NETS, credit card, and other electronic platforms.
. Provide friendly and courteous customer service, assisting customers with ordering and payment where necessary.
. Support the beverage and coffee station, including preparation of basic drinks such as coffee, tea, and other beverages.
. Assist with queue management, order collection, and front-of-house coordination when required.
. Follow standard operating procedures (SOP), workplace safety, and hygiene regulations.
. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Supervisors.
Requirements:
. Willing to learn and perform multiple roles in both kitchen and front-of-house operations.
. Basic IT skills to operate POS systems and payment machines.
. Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
. Good communication and service attitude.
. Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Hours:
. 5-day workweek, 44 hours per week.
. Standard shift: 7:00am - 4:45pm one day per week: 7:00am - 5:00pm.
