We are looking for a Junior UX Designer (1-2 years of experience) to join the team. This role is ideal for an early-career designer who is eager to grow their craft, learn how real products are built, and contribute meaningfully to user outcomes under the guidance of more experienced designers.
You will work on real product features end to end - supporting research, designing flows and interfaces, and collaborating closely with product managers and engineers. You'll also learn how to design within a shared design system and understand how good UX scales across products.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design of user flows, wireframes, and UI for GatherSG features and enhancements.
- Translate product requirements and user needs into clear, usable design solutions.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and senior designers.
- Assist with user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, and synthesis.
- Help document user insights and translate findings into design improvements.
- Learn to ask the right questions to better understand user problems and contexts.
- Use the GatherSG design system consistently when designing product features.
- Follow established components, patterns, and guidelines to ensure quality and consistency.
- Provide feedback or flag gaps in the design system when you encounter limitations.
- Work closely with product managers and engineers throughout the design and development process.
- Present design work clearly and openly receives feedback.
- Participate in design critiques and team reviews to learn and improve.
- Actively seek feedback and guidance to improve your UX and UI skills.
- Build an understanding of product thinking, constraints, and trade-offs.
- Develop confidence in owning small-to-medium scoped design tasks over time.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in UX, UI, or Product Design (including internships or full-time roles).
- A portfolio showcasing your design thinking, process, and outcomes.
- Basic understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and usability.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma.
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly, verbally and visually.
- Openness to feedback and a strong learning mindset.
- Exposure to user research methods (e.g. interviews, usability testing).
- Experience designing for complex or workflow-based products.
- Awareness of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Experience working in cross-functional product teams.
What Success Looks Like
- You steadily grow in confidence and independence as a UX designer.
- Your designs meet quality standards and align with user and business needs.
- You collaborate effectively with product and engineering partners.
- You use the design system correctly and contribute to a consistent product experience.
- You demonstrate clear progress in craft, thinking, and communication over time.
