Nippon Life Global Investors Singapore Limited initiated its operation since April 2013, when Nissay Asset Management Corporation participated in the JV, previously named Nissay Schroders Asset Management Asia Limited, and became the majority shareholder through an intra-group deal and the JV was renamed Nippon Life Global Investors Singapore Limited.
The Nippon Life Group has been managing Asian equities in Singapore since 2001. The unique joint venture structure has allowed the company to quickly set up its operations, utilizing the partner's infrastructure and support functions such as IT and finance, and enhance its capabilities while cultivating its own investment culture, staff, process and decisions.
Team Overview
The team led by the Chief Investment Officer consists of 9 investment professionals based in the Singapore office.
Overview Of Role
We are looking for a Junior Trader/Analyst to be based in Singapore. Candidates with no relevant experience may be considered for a contract position with the opportunity for conversion to permanent.
- Be trained in and perform the duty of a trader and place orders when the main trader is not available.
- Prepare monthly reports (investment and ESG-related) for the management team and clients, including generation of monthly screens and other reporting tools.
- Conduct statistical analysis/back testing on data to identify winning trends, aid in stock selection and portfolio construction, and maintain database.
- Always be in compliance with internal compliance as well as laws applied to the industry.
Essential Skills
- Diploma/Degree graduate in Economics, Finance or Business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent reasoning, numerical and analytical ability
- Great presentation and communication skills
- Ability to work either independently, or with in-house analysts to draw investment ideas/conclusions
- Strong excel skills, comfortable with platforms such as Bloomberg, Barra etc
- Basic programming skills (SQL, python etc) will be an added advantage
