About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented Junior Sous Chef to join the team at The Bakery Depot Pte Ltd. As a Junior Sous Chef (Cakes & Pastries), you will play a key role in the operations of our renowned bakery, focusing on the production of high-quality cakes, pastries and other baked goods. This full-time position is based in our Kaki Bukit East Region location.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting the Head Chef in leading and managing the cake and pastry kitchen team
  • Developing and refining recipes for a variety of cakes, pastries and other baked items
  • Overseeing the daily production and preparation of all cake and pastry items
  • Ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation and customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient work environment
  • Providing training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
  • Collaborating with the wider team to support the overall success of the bakery

What we're looking for

  • Formal culinary training and a recognised chef's qualification
  • Excellent technical skills in cake and pastry production, including piping, decorating and plating
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • A creative and innovative approach to recipe development and menu planning
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering the highest standards
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team
  • A passion for the culinary arts and a desire to contribute to the growth of our bakery
