Junior Scrum Master - Singapore
Purpose of Role
- This junior-level role is part of the Product Team responsible for working with the Commercial Digital team to deliver Marine, Customer Service, and Logistics platform across multiple commodity products, supporting Rio Tinto Commercial's (RTC) ambition to be among the market leaders in commodity trading.
- The Junior Scrum Master will work closely with business users (Product Owners), the Product Manager, and the delivery &/or BAU Support to deliver Exposure and Profit and Loss solutions for our trading business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Product Manager and Product Owner in day-to-day activities, including backlog management, sprint planning, and team coordination.
- Run and facilitate scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, grooming/review, and retrospectives) for the scrum team.
- Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver value to customers.
- Assist in aligning digital delivery to the vision and strategic direction set by senior leadership.
- Help assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and coach the team to higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace.
- Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution within the team.
- Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel.
- Support digital delivery in accordance with strategic intent.
- Help prepare and report Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies to senior management as needed.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or retribution.
- Provide servant leadership and lead by example, supporting the team and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Required Knowledge and Experience
- Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, SSM, or equivalent) is required.
- Junior-level experience in any of the following roles - Scrum Master, Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Project Management role.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum principles, servant leadership, facilitation, and team empowerment.
- Experience or exposure to project management, business analysis, or product ownership in a technology or software development environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Skills/Experience (Any combination of these is a plus)
- Experience with the SAFe framework or other scaled agile approaches.
- Familiarity with Agile techniques such as User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, and Automated Testing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft AzureDevOps, Confluence and Excel.
- Previous experience supporting or running scrum teams, even in a junior or supporting capacity.
