Job Description

About Aleta Planet

Aleta Planet is a Singapore-based payment services provider and Banking-as-a-Service platform, licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Major Payment Institution and a Principal Member of VISA. We build cross-border payment infrastructure, multi-currency business accounts supporting up to 14 currencies, card issuance, and API integrations that partner businesses build on top of. Founded in Singapore in 2014, we've grown into a group with entities across Hong Kong, Dubai, Malaysia, and Canada.

About the Role

Reconciliation is how we prove the money is where we say it is.

Every day, money moves through three different parts of our business — cards we've issued, remittances we've sent and received, and merchant settlements we've acquired. Each has its own files, its own counterparties, and its own ways of not adding up. This role checks all three, every day, against what our own systems say happened.

Here's the honest version of the deal. This is daily, repetitive, detailed work. You'll run largely the same checks tomorrow that you ran today, and most days everything will match. The entire value of the job is in the days it doesn't — and in you being the kind of person who notices, rather than the kind who assumes the file is right because it usually is.

You don't need to know payments. Almost nobody joining at this level does, and we'll teach you properly — card schemes, remittance flows, acquiring settlement, prefunding, and what actually goes wrong in each. What we need you to bring is care, and the willingness to say this doesn't tie out loud rather than hoping it resolves itself.

Where it leads

Reconciliation is one of the few places you can learn how payments genuinely work, because you see the money move rather than reading about it. People who do this well understand settlement better than most of the people selling the product.

As you prove you can run checks unsupervised, you take them over — first one product line, then the exception handling, then the reporting. From there the path runs toward Reconciliation Specialist, settlements, or the accounting side of finance, depending on what you turn out to be good at.

We'll teach you the schemes, the flows and the files. We can't teach you to be bothered by a difference you can't explain.

What You'll Do

Card issuing reconciliation

  • Perform daily reconciliation of card issuing transactions — authorisations, clearing, settlement and fees — against scheme and network reports and our internal ledgers
  • Match scheme settlement files against processor and issuer-processor records, and flag unmatched or unusual items to your manager
  • Support monitoring of prefund, collateral and settlement accounts held with card networks and processors
  • Log and track unmatched transactions, timing differences and duplicate postings for review and escalation

Remittance reconciliation

  • Reconcile outbound and inbound remittance transactions between our internal systems and correspondent bank and payment partner statements, for accuracy and completeness
  • Support monitoring of prefund accounts held with service providers
  • Maintain accurate reconciliation records, and work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve exceptions

Acquiring reconciliation

  • Reconcile merchant settlement files against acquiring processor and network reports
  • Validate settlement amounts, fees and funding received against our internal records and processor reports
  • Liaise with acquiring processors and internal stakeholders to resolve settlement breaks and reconciliation exceptions

Reporting, escalation and process

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation reports and exception logs under guidance
  • Escalate discrepancies and open items to your manager promptly — a break you sit on quietly is worse than one you raise too early
  • Follow reconciliation SOPs and controls accurately, and flag process gaps or recurring issues to the team lead
  • Identify inefficiencies and suggest practical ways to streamline the reconciliation and operational work
  • Take part in training to build real knowledge of card schemes, remittance flows and acquiring settlement
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 1 – 2 years experience in finance, accounting, banking, or payment operations
  • Accurate and diligent. You do the same checks properly on a Friday afternoon in month nine as you did in week one
  • Detail-driven. You're comfortable with numbers and large datasets, and an odd-looking figure bothers you until you understand it
  • Good working knowledge of Excel — VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas — and willing to get much better
  • Able to follow structured processes and checklists accurately and consistently
  • Speaks up promptly. You raise a problem clearly and early rather than waiting to see whether it resolves itself
  • Good communicator and a team player, comfortable dealing with internal teams and external partners
  • Proactive and genuinely willing to learn the payments and fintech domain
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving fintech environment where processes are still being built
What You'll Learn
  • How money actually moves across three different payment products — card issuing, remittance and acquiring
  • Card scheme mechanics: authorisation, clearing, settlement, interchange and scheme fees
  • How prefunding, collateral and settlement accounts work, and why they have to be watched
  • What causes breaks — timing, fees deducted at source, duplicates, FX, cut-off — and how they actually get resolved
  • Clear progression toward Reconciliation Specialist, settlements, or the accounting side of the finance team
What Matters to Us
  • Nothing gets left unexplained — an unresolved difference is a question, not a rounding error
  • Consistency — this is a daily control, so it only works if it's done to the same standard every single day
  • Speaking up — you tell someone early, especially when you're unsure, and especially when it's awkward
  • Curiosity — you want to understand why the break happened, not just clear it off the log
What You'll Get
  • Structured training in card schemes, remittance flows and acquiring settlement — a skill set that's in demand and hard to pick up anywhere else
  • Exposure across three payment products rather than one narrow process
  • Ownership of your own reconciliations as soon as you can run them unsupervised
  • Exposure to a licensed, MAS-regulated payments business operating across five jurisdictions
