We are seeking a motivated Junior Python / Systems Support Engineer to assist with script migration, database connectivity updates, and basic system and network troubleshooting. This role is suitable for candidates who are currently pursuing or have recently completed relevant studies, or early-career professionals with up to two years of experience. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams to support automation tasks, system updates, testing, and documentation in a structured environment.
Assist in reviewing and analysing existing scripts, including understanding their purpose, dependencies, inputs, outputs, and execution schedules.
Support consolidation and migration of scripts by updating file paths, configuration files, credentials handling, and refactoring code for maintainability.
Assist with PostgreSQL database connectivity updates, including authentication changes, permission validation, and basic SQL operations.
Perform basic network connectivity checks such as DNS resolution, port access, firewall/security rule validation, and connection troubleshooting.
Execute test runs, validate outputs, and document results and discrepancies.
Support job scheduling and automation tasks (e.g., cron, system services, or task schedulers depending on environment).
Create and maintain technical documentation including runbooks, configuration notes, dependency lists, and troubleshooting guides.
Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to track progress, identify issues, and support resolution activities.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (for interns), OR 0-2 years of relevant experience (for temporary staff).
Working knowledge of Python, including scripting, modules, file handling, logging, and basic error handling.
Basic experience with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including running queries and understanding schemas.
Fundamental understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, ports, firewall/security rules, and SSH/RDP.
Comfortable working in Linux environments and using the command line (preferred).
Familiarity with Git or version control systems is an advantage.
Strong troubleshooting, organisational, and documentation skills.
Able to follow instructions clearly, ask questions when needed, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
