Junior Network Engineer (Data Center & Infrastructure)

Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support data center and network infrastructure operations.
This is a hands-on role designed for someone who want practical exposure to real-world infrastructure environments.

The role focuses on operational support, equipment deployment, and foundational network tasks, with on-the-job learning provided.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center & Infrastructure Support

• Assist in break/fix activities and replacement of faulty hardware.

• Ensure proper labeling, cable management, and data center housekeeping.

Network Support

• Support basic network tasks such as patching, port checks, and connectivity verification.

• Assist senior engineers with switch and firewall configuration.

• Monitor network and infrastructure alerts and escalate issues when required.

• Participate in scheduled maintenance and change activities.

Operations & Documentation

• Follow operational procedures and change management processes.

• Update asset records, network diagrams, and documentation.

• Prepare basic incident and maintenance reports when required.

Requirements

Experience & Background

• 1 years of experience in:

  • Data center operations

  • NOC / infrastructure support

  • Field or technical support roles

• Fresh graduates with relevant internships or hands-on exposure are welcome.

Technical Knowledge

• Basic understanding of:

  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP concepts)

  • Servers and network devices

  • Copper and fibre cabling

• Exposure to Linux or Windows systems is an advantage.

• Familiarity with switches or firewalls is a plus, but not required.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field
  (or equivalent hands-on technical experience)

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work on-site in data center environments.

• Willingness to support occasional after-hours or weekend maintenance.

• Physically able to handle equipment installation tasks.

• Good attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
