About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Junior CAD Engineer to support reverse engineering and 3D scanning activities for aerospace components. This role is suited for candidates with practical CAD experience who are comfortable working with both digital models and physical parts in a workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert 3D scan data (STL / mesh) into accurate CAD models
- Perform reverse engineering using tools such as QuickSurface or RevoDesign
- Extract contours and generate 2D DXF files for manufacturing (shadow boards)
- Operate 3D scanning systems (e.g. Revopoint Trackit)
- Support fabrication processes including use of cutting machines
- Coordinate with end users to design and improve shadow boards for aircraft tooling
- Operate the electric knife cutting machine to make foam shadow boards
Requirements
- Diploma / ITE / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Design or related field
- Hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Fusion 360, AutoCAD)
- Basic experience in 3D modelling or reverse engineering (internship or project acceptable)
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings and convert from 3D models
- Comfortable working in a workshop / shopfloor environment
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to 3D scanning, point cloud or mesh processing
- Familiarity with STL files and reverse engineering workflows
- Experience with QuickSurface, Geomagic or similar software
- Recreational hobbies involving 3D CAD software modelling and 3D printing may also count as hands on experience.
