Job Description

We are looking for an Associate to join our market leading International Arbitration team in Singapore, which forms part of our dispute resolution practice in Asia.

The role will primarily involve work in international commercial arbitrations seated in Singapore and elsewhere, as well as general contentious / pre-dispute advisory work.

You will be expected to undertake work across a broad range of sectors, including energy (oil & gas, renewables, power generation), FMCG, commodities, infrastructure, telecoms, technology, cryptocurrency and financial institutions.

We are looking for an associate with strong technical knowledge and drafting skills, who is able to manage matters with appropriate levels of supervision and is an excellent team player. The candidate should have the ability to strategize, understand the commercial aspects of a dispute and give pragmatic, commercial advice to our international clients.

The candidate should also be able to engage effectively with international clients from a variety of jurisdictions.

Skills and Experience Required

  • 1-2 years PQE, qualified in Singapore, England & Wales or their equivalent in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Prior experience in complex, high stakes, international arbitration is required.
  • First class legal and drafting skills.
  • Excellent case management and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to details, ability to work under pressure and an excellent team player.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Open to considering candidates with a mix of commercial litigation and international arbitration experience in a top local firm in Singapore.
  • Oral advocacy experience is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of investment law and public international law is not necessary but good to have.
