About the Role

Singapore's premier business daily, The Business Times (BT), is looking for a enteprising Journalist to join its finance and markets team.

You will be producing content across online, print, voice and video platforms of The Business Times in a fast-paced environment. You'll be expected to work independently and also ready to collaborate with colleagues across other teams.

On the Finance and Markets team, you'll be reporting on the Singapore equities market, tracking movements and trends and analysing the impact of policy initiatives and market regulation. You will cover corporate transactions, with opportunities to specialise in specific sectors such as real estate and Reits.

Strong writing and analytical skills are prerequisites, and a deft command of language will be an advantage. Numeracy and familiarity with financial statements will be required. You should be adept with data, quick at spotting trends and anomalies, and be able to sniff out and chase news leads and scoops. Curiosity and an always-questioning mindset are must-haves. So is the ability to think ahead about implications and articulate why things matter. You should be alert to what catches attention, and have a determined approach to gathering news, mining for information and building trusted relationships. You must be able to meet urgent deadlines and manage long-term projects.

Applicants with a few years of experience in financial or business writing or relevant working experience in the real estate sector will be preferred. Recent graduates with some media experience will be considered on merit.

Job Requirements

• Relevant degree in Communications, New Media, Business, Finance, Journalism, Real Estate or any relevant fields
• Sharp sense of what's news with a good understanding of content management for multiple platforms
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various stakeholders
