Java Developer - Leading Investment Bank

Role Overview:

We are seeking a high-calibre Junior to Intermediate level Java Engineer to join a specialized global team focused on building the next generation of Cyber Security Controls. You will play a pivotal role in protecting the firm's infrastructure through the development of GenAI security guardrails, data protection frameworks, and advanced network segmentation tools.

This is an end-to-end development role where you will be responsible for the full lifecyclefrom designing micro-network segmentation solutions to managing Jenkins pipelines and supporting production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy automated controls for GenAI model scanning and unstructured data protection (including intelligent file labelling).
• Develop and optimize micro-network segmentation tools and host-based firewall management systems to harden the firm's perimeter.
• Architect scalable backend services using Java 20+ and build high-performance ETL data pipelines in Python.
• Lead features from initial requirement analysis through to production support, including the creation and management of Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure high-availability of security tools through rigorous unit testing (JUnit/Mockito), performance tuning, and proactive troubleshooting in Linux/Unix environments.
• Work within a lean, agile squad across APAC to conduct deep-dive code reviews and maintain technical documentation for complex APIs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 23 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java (v20 or above), including OOP, Multithreading, and Collections.
• Hands-on experience with Spring / Spring Boot and building REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or Sybase; familiarity with Hibernate/JPA.
• Ability to write and maintain Python-based ETL jobs and scripts.
• A test-first mindset with the ability to architect comprehensive unit tests using JUnit and Mockito.
• Proficient in version control using Git and a functional understanding of Linux/Unix environments for deployment and troubleshooting.
• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to break down complex cyber-security challenges into scalable technical solutions.
