Job Description

The James Dyson Foundation - James Dyson's international charity - aims to inspire young people to realise their engineering potential. The Foundation draws on inspiration from Dyson technology to provide free educational resources and workshops to schools to give students a glimpse into the exciting world of engineering. The Foundation also supports university students through the James Dyson Award.

The James Dyson Foundation sits within the Weybourne Group Office at the Dyson Campus in Singapore. The Foundation also has representatives working in the US, Malaysia, and UK.

Weybourne Group is the holding company for the Dyson technology company, Dyson Farming, and other diverse business interests. Outside the operating businesses, Weybourne manages an investment portfolio and provides financial and other professional support to the Dyson Family, their estates, and personal business interests. The group covers a wide range of sectors including farming, financial and commercial property investments and residential property. We currently have a team of around 75 employees whose roles cover accountancy, financial control, tax and treasury, commercial property and financial investment management, security, audit, IT and HR based in both the UK and Singapore (where the Group Head Office is located).

Purpose of the position:

The James Dyson Foundation Project Associate will be responsible for growing the Foundation's presence, educational offerings, and partnerships, in support of our growth in Southeast Asia. The Project Associate must have a passion for the Foundation's mission and a drive to communicate that mission persuasively and uphold its integrity. We are looking for an enthusiast who has good communication skills, and who is ready to take their first steps within a Project orientated role to support:

  • Growth of the Foundation in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand), in collaboration with Dyson Communications teams
  • Development of partnerships with universities to support undergraduates in their degree programmes and to secure high-quality entries for the annual James Dyson Award
  • Implementation of the Foundation's educational resources and STEM programme with Southeast Asia schools, institutions and agencies to drive the outreach of the Foundation's educational resources and activities
  • Curation of volunteering opportunities for Dyson people to amplify the work of the Foundation and the James Dyson Award
  • Fundraising campaigns for Dyson chosen charities and encourage philanthropy from Dyson people

We are based in St James Power Station, Singapore and our site includes free coffee bars and free lunch at our cafés

Requirements

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience in education or communications preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent project and time management skills to deal with tight deadlines
  • High energy with maturity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Relationship builder with ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Comfortable operating within a geographically dispersed team where many key relationships are international e.g. UK and US.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, constantly looking for new opportunities and ways to do things better
  • Effective communicator to engage with stakeholders
  • Strong command of spoken and written English
  • International travelling may be required.
