IT support engineer

Micro Space Infotech is looking for a motivated and experienced CCTV & Network Support Engineer to join our technical support team. This is a field-based role responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of CCTV surveillance systems, networking infrastructure, Wi-Fi solutions, and structured cabling.

As a CCTV & Network Support Engineer, you will work directly with customers at their premises, providing professional onsite and remote technical support. You will be responsible for installing new systems, upgrading existing infrastructure, diagnosing faults, resolving network issues, and ensuring customer systems operate efficiently with minimal downtime.

This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a customer-first attitude. The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling to customer sites and responding to urgent support requests, including after-office hours when required.

CCTV Installation & Support

• Install and configure IP CCTV and analogue CCTV systems.
• Install and commission NVR (Network Video Recorder) and DVR systems.
• Configure remote viewing using mobile applications and web browsers.
• Install indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras.
• Mount cameras, route cables, and ensure proper positioning for maximum coverage.
• Replace faulty CCTV cameras, power adapters, hard disks, and network components.
• Configure recording schedules, motion detection, event recording, and storage management.
• Upgrade firmware and maintain CCTV equipment.
• Diagnose video loss, camera offline issues, recording failures, and playback problems.
• Configure user accounts and access permissions.
• Test all cameras after installation to ensure image quality and recording functionality.
• Perform preventive maintenance and system health checks.
• Train customers on the operation of CCTV systems.

Network Installation & Support

• Install and configure wired and wireless networks.
• Configure routers, managed switches, PoE switches, and wireless access points.
• Install enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.
• Configure LAN, WAN, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and static IP addressing.
• Troubleshoot internet connectivity problems.
• Diagnose slow network performance and packet loss.
• Replace faulty switches, routers, and network equipment.
• Configure VPN connectivity where required.
• Assist customers with internet provider migrations.
• Monitor network performance and recommend improvements.
• Ensure network security best practices are implemented.

Structured Cabling

• Install Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A structured cabling.
• Pull network cables through ceilings, walls, conduits, and trunking.
• Terminate RJ45 connectors and network sockets.
• Install and maintain patch panels.
• Label and document all network points.
• Test network cables using cable testers and certification tools.
• Repair damaged network cables.
• Replace faulty wall outlets and patch cords.
• Organise server racks and cable management.
• Ensure installations comply with structured cabling standards.
  
  Customer Technical Support
• Participate in the company's 24×7 emergency support rotation and respond to critical customer incidents outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, when assigned.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support.
• Respond to customer support requests promptly.
• Diagnose and resolve networking and CCTV issues.
• Explain technical problems in a simple and professional manner.
• Maintain strong customer relationships.
• Follow up after installations and repairs.
• Provide recommendations for system upgrades.
