IT Storage Engineer

This is a Huawei Storage Technical Support Engineer role, specializing in the management, optimization, and maintenance of Huawei storage infrastructure. Key responsibilities include log analysis, configuration optimization, patch management, capacity planning, vulnerability remediation, and customer training, often requiring shift work.

Key Responsibilities for IT Storage Engineer:

1. Operational Optimization:

Proactively reviewing configurations, generating reports, managing capacity, and identifying improvements based on Huawei best practices.

2. Maintenance & Support:

Testing patches, implementing changes, and fixing vulnerabilities on Huawei storage hardware/software.

3. Customer Enablement:

Training customer staff and increasing their understanding of Huawei solutions.

4. Governance:

Conducting monthly reviews, managing the Statement of Work (SOW) changes, and performing Root Cause Analysis.

S3 & Huawei OBS Expertise (5+ Years):

Over 5 years of experience specializing in S3-compliant object storage, focusing on Huawei Cloud Object Storage Service (OBS). Proficient in OBS bucket configuration, lifecycle management, and fine-grained access control (IAM/policies).

Huawei Storage Configuration & Migration:

Deep hands-on experience in configuring Huawei OceanStor storage (Pacific/Dorado series). Expert in migrating data to Huawei Cloud using Object Storage Migration Service (OMS) (e.g., from S3 to OBS) and block storage migration using SmartMigration.

Disaster Recovery (DR) & Backup Solutions:

Familiar with Huawei-specific DR technologies, including cross-region replication, cross-AZ DR, and OceanProtect backup storage. Experienced in implementing Active-Active or Active-Passive DR scenarios using BCManager.

Daily Monitoring & Incident Management:

Proficient in using Huawei OceanStor DeviceManager or DME (Data Management Engine) for monitoring storage performance, capacity management, and generating alarms. Skilled in proactive incident response and troubleshooting for Object/Block storage.

OS Knowledge & Technical Skills:

Strong fundamental knowledge in Linux/Unix Systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Solaris, AIX) and basic Windows networking, essential for storage mounting and agent installation (e.g., S3fs, backup agents).

Customer & Task Management:

Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, focusing on customer requirements and service-level continuity (99.9999999999% durability).
