The IT Quality Assurance & Reliability Engineer ensures all new systems, changes, and deployments enter production stable, secure, and defectfree, and that operational environments maintain high reliability and performance. This role embeds preventive quality practices into the full change lifecycle, including design, build, test, release, and operations, to deliver a consistently highquality experience for our end users. This role will serve as an independent assurance function within the IT Department. The key responsibilities of the IT Quality Assurance & Reliability Engineer include:
Quality & Release Assurance
- Define, develop, and maintain quality standards, release gates, and GoLive checklists across all services for new system deployments and major change requests.
- Translate requirements and risks into testable acceptance criteria and quality exit gates.
- Ensure test environments maintain prodlike fidelity, including configuration parity and dependency checks.
- Assess risk and soundness of testing strategies (functional, performance, security, resilience, automation).
- Enforce pre and postdeployment verification, including capacity tests, health checks, and progressive rollout.
Operational Reliability
- Define and enforce reliability standards for production services, including monitoring, performance targets, and productionreadiness requirements.
- Partner with various teams within the IT department to embed and maintain observability, monitoring, alerting, and actionable runbooks.
- Lead defect and incident prevention, driving blameless postmortems and converting learnings into systemic controls.
- Ensure change quality through processes such as change management, policy-as-code, and peer reviews.
Governance & Compliance
- Validate and ensure compliance with MAS TRM, MAS Cyber Hygiene, and internal security policies.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence for traceability and regulatory reviews.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop and maintain metrics for test coverage, defect rates, and release readiness.
- Deliver periodic assurance reports highlighting security posture and control gaps.
Continuous Improvement
- Train development and operations teams on quality, testability, operability, and failure mode thinking.
- Work closely with System Owners, developers, and risk teams to integrate QA into development workflows.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Security/Systems, or related fields.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience, with at least 3-5 years in QA, software testing, and/or secure SDLC practices.
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments preferred.
- Strong background in quality assurance, test automation, and technology operations.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, IaC/GitOps, observability stacks, performance testing, and resilience testing.
- Ability to review requirements for testability, identify risks early, and prevent defects proactively.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and decisionmaking abilities (go/nogo calls).
- Familiarity with MAS TRM and MAS Cyber Hygiene compliance requirements.
- Relevant certifications are highly desirable:
- ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation or Advanced Level).
- CISSP or CSSLP (for secure software lifecycle knowledge).
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent security testing cert
