Role Overview
Thisrole is responsible for leading and supporting a regional transformationprogram for a Japanese major bank, focusing on the transformation andmodernization of credit management systems and digital platforms across APAC,including migration to a Global Shared Service Center (MGS) in India.
Thecandidate will act as a Project Manager and Business Analyst within the PMO,ensuring end-to-end delivery from planning through migration and post-go-livestabilization. The role requires strong expertise in credit management systems,digital workflows, and cross-border banking platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Program / Project Management
- Lead PMO activities for APAC-wide system and platform transformation initiatives involving multiple overseas branches
- Develop and manage integrated project plans covering system migration, application enhancement, and platform rollout
- Track and manage risks, issues, and dependencies across cross-border stakeholders
- Prepare executive-level reporting materials and facilitate governance meetings
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal technology governance frameworks
Credit Management Systems & Application Expertise
- Analyze and assess current credit management systems, applications, and digital workflows across APAC entities
- Provide subject matter expertise in credit-related systems, data flows, and operational applications
- Identify system-related risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Support standardization and optimization of applications and system-enabled processes for SSC migration
Target Operating Model (TOM) & System Transformation
- Design and refine Target Operating Model (TOM) including system architecture, application workflows, and platform integration
- Define roles and responsibilities (RACI) across business and IT stakeholders
- Lead migration activities including:
- Process and system documentation
- Training and knowledge transfer for system users
- System testing coordination (SIT/UAT)
- SLA/KPI definition for system performance
- Support system migration, including platform transition, data handling, and coordination with IT teams and vendors
- Ensure smooth transition with minimal operational and system disruption
Cross-Border Stakeholder & IT Coordination
- Act as a liaison between APAC branches, regional headquarters, IT teams, and system vendors
- Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues related to system integration, application performance, and data consistency
- Bridge communication gaps across business and technology teams
- Support decision-making through structured analysis of both operational and system-related impacts
Post Migration Stabilization & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor operational and system performance, application stability, and service quality post-migration
- Identify gaps and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including system optimization and workflow automation
- Ensure sustainable knowledge transfer and operational maturity
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, IT, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in financial services (banking and/or securities)
- Proven experience in: Large-scale transformation or migration programs, System implementation, platform migration, or application-related projects and PMO and cross-border project coordination
- Experience working with banking systems or enterprise applications in APAC environments
- Experience with Japanese financial institutions preferred
- Strong understanding of credit management systems, enterprise applications, and digital workflows
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Ability to manage complex, multi-country and system-related transformation programs
- Knowledge of system integration, testing processes, and application lifecycle is an advantage
- Experience in SSC or offshoring initiatives preferred
- Good communication skill in both English and Japanese (Business-level proficiency as mandatory) to liaise with Japanese stakeholders and clients.
