Job Summary
The IT Network Sales Engineer acts as the technical expert supporting the sales process for network infrastructure products and solutions. This role bridges the gap between customer needs and technical capabilities-providing solution design, demonstrations, technical presentations, and expert advice to help customers adopt secure, scalable, and efficient network systems.
Responsibilities
Sales Support & Technical Consultation
- Partner with sales teams to understand customer requirements and propose appropriate network solutions (LAN/WAN, WiFi, SDWAN, security, cloud networking, etc.).
- Conduct technical discovery sessions, requirements gathering, and network assessments.
- Prepare and deliver solution presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept environments.
- Translate technical capabilities into business value for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Solution Design & Architecture
- Develop high-level and detailed network architecture designs including topology, capacity planning, and security considerations.
- Prepare bill of materials (BOM), solution proposals, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate customer infrastructure and recommend appropriate upgrades, optimizations, or new technologies.
Project & Implementation Support
- Support project delivery teams with preimplementation technical guidance.
- Participate in postsales handover to ensure smooth transition from sales to engineering.
- Provide technical clarifications, participate in RFP responses, and assist with tender submissions.
Product Expertise & Development
- Stay updated on networking technologies including Cisco, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, cloud networking platforms, and emerging technologies.
- Conduct product training and technical enablement sessions for internal teams.
- Provide customer feedback to product and engineering teams to help refine offerings.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through technical credibility and consultative selling.
- Provide ongoing technical support during evaluation phases.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities through strategic account engagement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in network engineering, pre-sales engineering, or technical consultancy.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls, network security).
- Hands-on experience with major network vendors (Cisco, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet, etc.).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical solutions into business outcomes.
- Experience with RFP/RFQ processes and solution proposal development.
