The Opportunity

We are representing a growing hedge fund based in Singapore with a strong focus on Japanese equities alongside global equity strategies. The firm is in a build-and-scale phase, with a lean, high-calibre team and an institutional mindset.

They are seeking an Investment Research Assistant to support the investment team across research, analysis, and idea development. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to build a buy-side research foundation in a real trading environment-close to decision-making, markets, and portfolio construction.

This is not a passive, academic role. It suits someone who is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and motivated by markets rather than titles.

Key Responsibilities

• Support fundamental research on Japanese and global equities

• Build and maintain company models, financial summaries, and research notes

• Track earnings, corporate actions, and market-moving events

• Assist in idea generation through screening, data gathering, and thematic research

• Prepare investment memos, summaries, and presentation materials

• Monitor portfolio holdings and watchlists

• Conduct industry and competitor analysis

• Support ad-hoc projects related to strategy development and portfolio management

• Maintain internal research databases and documentation

Candidate Profile

• Strong interest in public markets and investing

• Solid grounding in accounting, finance, or economics

• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail

• Comfortable working with numbers, data, and financial statements

• Fluency in Japanese and English, with the ability to read and interpret company filings, disclosures, and research materials in Japanese

• Self-directed, organised, and able to work in a fast-moving environment
