Investment Data & Benchmark Operations Manager

Our client is a tier-one global fund manager looking to hire an Investment Data & Benchmark Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of benchmark and index data within its Singapore team.

The role covers daily index operations, methodology controls, data governance and platform improvements. It would suit an investment data or benchmark professional looking to take ownership of a strategically important platform supporting portfolio implementation and rebalancing.

Responsibilities for the Investment Data & Benchmark Operations Manager:

• Manage the daily operation of the index platform, ensuring the accurate and timely calculation and publication of index values.
• Oversee the quality and completeness of data used for index calculations, including prices, market capitalisation and other relevant market information.
• Perform index methodology checks and investigate discrepancies relating to calculations, data and published index values.
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of benchmark and index data across relevant systems and operational processes.
• Develop and maintain quality controls, procedures and governance frameworks for index operations.
• Work closely with investment, risk, data, technology and rebalancing teams to address index-related requirements and operational issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve the index platform through automation, stronger controls and more scalable workflows.
• Partner with technology teams to implement new tools and enhancements supporting index and benchmark operations.
• Lead projects relating to platform improvements, process design and operational risk reduction.
• Explore the use of AI and advanced analytics to strengthen data-quality monitoring, exception detection and workflow efficiency.

Requirements for the Investment Data & Benchmark Operations Manager:

• At least 5 years of experience in index management, benchmark operations, investment data or a closely related financial-data function.
• Practical understanding of index calculations, index methodologies, benchmark data and associated operational controls.
• Good knowledge of financial instruments, capital markets and the impact of market data on index calculations.
• Experience working with data providers such as MSCI, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P, Markit or similar platforms would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to data accuracy and operational risk.
• Experience improving processes, controls, workflows or financial-data platforms.
• Exposure to Python, SQL, Tableau or similar analytical tools would be beneficial.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across investment, risk, data, operations and technology functions.
• Comfortable taking ownership in a changing environment and managing competing business and governance priorities.
