Job Title: Inventory, Stores & Quality Control Manager (Indian Supermarket)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory, Stores & Quality Control Manager to oversee stock management, product quality, and store support operations for a Singapore-based Indian supermarket.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Indian grocery products, including shelf life, storage standards, and quality parameters, ensuring minimal wastage while supporting overall sales growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Manage and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly inventory levels across all product categories
  • Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid stockouts and overstocking
  • Track product shelf life and expiry dates, especially for perishable and fast-moving items
  • Implement FIFO (First-In-First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired-First-Out) inventory practices

Quality Control & Assurance

  • Ensure all products meet defined quality standards before display and sale
  • Conduct regular checks on product freshness, packaging integrity, and labeling compliance
  • Monitor expiry dates and remove near-expiry or damaged goods proactively
  • Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene) across all categories
  • Coordinate with suppliers on quality issues, returns, and replacements

Procurement & Demand Planning

  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement and replenishment
  • Forecast demand based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and promotional activities
  • Maintain accurate purchase and stock records

Store Operations Support

  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure product availability and visibility
  • Support merchandising strategies to improve sales performance
  • Assist in planning promotions, stock rotation, and clearance of slow-moving items

Loss Prevention & Compliance

  • Minimize losses due to expiry, damage, and shrinkage
  • Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore food safety, hygiene, and storage regulations

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare inventory reports, stock movement analysis, and wastage reports
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve stock efficiency and sales

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in inventory/store management with quality control exposure, preferably in supermarkets or FMCG retail
  • Strong knowledge of Indian grocery products (rice, lentils, spices, frozen foods, and perishables)
  • Good understanding of shelf life, storage standards, and quality inspection practices
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and MS Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment

Eligibility

  • Open to Singapore locals and foreign candidates (subject to work pass eligibility)
  • Experience in Indian supermarkets or similar retail environments is highly preferred
