Internet of Things Engineer

About the opportunity

We are supporting a Singapore-headquartered industrial AI company deploying IoT and machine-monitoring solutions across manufacturing, maritime, infrastructure and other industrial environments.

They are looking for an IoT Field Engineer who can combine hands-on deployment capability with customer-facing engineering and practical commercial judgement.

This is not purely an installation role. The engineer will be involved in solution design, site deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, customer discussions and implementation planning.

What you'll work on

• Plan and execute industrial IoT deployments at customer sites.
• Install, configure and commission sensors, gateways, edge devices and related hardware.
• Perform low-voltage wiring, cable termination, sensor connections and basic circuitry work within authorised scope.
• Diagnose hardware, connectivity and device-performance issues.
• Use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and signal-testing tools.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals and installation drawings.
• Support solution architecture and deployment planning.
• Translate site requirements into practical sensor, gateway, network and installation designs.
• Contribute to deployment costing, manpower planning, logistics and vendor requirements.
• Work directly with customers to explain implementation approaches and technical trade-offs.
• Monitor scope, project costs and potential implementation risks.
• Prepare installation, commissioning and deployment documentation.

What we're looking for

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 2–3+ years of experience in IoT deployment, field engineering or similar work.
• Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting IoT hardware.
• Familiarity with industrial sensors and protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, Zigbee or LoRaWAN.
• Experience working with edge devices, gateways or cloud-connected systems.
• Comfortable with basic low-voltage electrical and circuitry work.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Able to work independently at customer sites.
• Comfortable travelling locally and internationally.
