ROLE OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for establishing and leading the internal audit function on a standalone basis. Reporting directly to the Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee, the role provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services to strengthen the organization's risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. This position will report administratively to the CEO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute a risk-based annual internal audit plan aligned to the organization's risk profile and strategic priorities.
- Conduct operational, financial, compliance, and process audits across all business units and entities, both in Singapore and overseas.
- Document audit findings with clarity and prepare well-structured audit reports with actionable recommendations.
- Track and follow up on management actions arising from audit findings to ensure timely closure.
Risk & Controls Advisory
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, identifying gaps and recommending practical improvements.
- Provide advisory support on new processes, system implementations, and organizational changes from a controls perspective.
- Maintain awareness of emerging risks relevant to the business and flag material issues to senior management promptly.
Governance & Reporting
- Report audit results and significant findings directly to the CEO and Chairman.
- Present audit results and significant findings to the Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Always maintain the independence and objectivity of the internal audit function.
- Ensure internal audit activities comply with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards).
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and mentor the Audit Executive, providing guidance on audit methodology and professional development.
- Build constructive working relationships with HODs and process owners.
- Liaise with external auditors as required to ensure complementary coverage and avoid duplication.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification preferred: CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CA, CPA, or ACCA.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in internal audit, external audit, or a related assurance function.
- Demonstrated experience in risk-based audit methodology and internal controls assessment.
- Prior experience in a standalone or leadership audit role is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Singapore regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.
