THE TEAM

STMicroelectronics Imaging Division is developing and industrializing opto-electronics products: CMOS Image sensors, proximity sensors, 3D sensors, Ambient Light Sensors, Touch Sensors.

The position, located in Singapore, is an exciting opportunity to be part of an Innovative & Dynamic team, working on different worldwide leading technology image sensors targeting various customers and markets (Consumer, Industrial, Automotive).

This internship offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in the expanding field of image sensors targeting various customers and markets (Consumer, Industrial, Automotive).

The role involves working within the ASIC Digital Design team, which encompasses all the disciplines necessary for the development of custom image sensors.

As an intern, you'll contribute to live projects that shape the future of Image Sensors.

Beyond the challenges of digital image sensor development, you'll have the chance to engage in brainstorming sessions focused on architecture, design, tool, and process improvements.

Role Overview

  • As a Digital Verification Intern, you will work on imaging design projects by performing verification of IPs and ASIC SOC based on UVM methodology.
  • A Key focus of your internship would be to gain hands-on experience to evaluate, benchmark new EDA tools, automation frameworks, and productivity technologies
  • into digital verification environment to verify complex digital designs.
  • Contribute to the verification flow to improve the quality and time to market.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design and verification challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Digital Verification Activities

  • Assist in verifying RTL modules using simulation tools (e.g., VCS, Incisive/Xcelium, QuestaSim).
  • Contribute to the creation or refinement of:
  • testbenches, stimulus generation, coverage analysis, waveform debug
  • Run regression suites, track failures, classify bugs, and document root causes.
  • Perform functional, assertion-based, and directed/random testing depending on the block under test.
  • Develop simulation models that helps the verification of IPs of image sensor.

New Tool Evaluation & Benchmarking

  • Evaluate emerging verification tools, automation frameworks, or debugging solutions for:
  • simulation acceleration, coverage-guided testing, waveform analysis, formal verification support
  • Benchmark tools by comparing runtime, memory usage, scalability, usability, coverage effectiveness
  • Provide structured reports summarizing results, benefits, limitations, and recommendations for adoption.

Automation & Scripting

  • Integrate new tools into existing CI systems or verification makefile flows.
  • Explore opportunities to reduce manual effort by creating tool prototypes or workflow helpers.

Qualification & Skills

Requirement

  • Able to commit minimum 8 months of Internship.
  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering / VLSI design / Imaging, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in: digital logic, hardware design principles
  • Education institution: Singapore local universities

Preferred

  • Programming or scripting skills in Python, plus at least one of: C/C++, Verilog, SystemVerilog, TCL, or Shell.
  • Familiarity with simulation concepts (testbenches, DUT, waveforms, assertions).
  • Ability to analyze technical data and generate concise reports.
  • Knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog and/or UVM.
  • Experience or coursework in VLSI/ASIC design or verification.
  • Exposure to formal verification, coverage analysis, linting, or CDC tools.
  • Interest in EDA tool evaluation and verification methodology research.
  • Strong curiosity to learn emerging technologies and improving engineering workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

What You Will Gain

  • Practical experience in industrial digital verification, simulation flows, UVM, and testbench automation.
  • Hands-on exposure to next-generation EDA tools and the chance to influence tool adoption.
  • Opportunity to design scripts and workflows that may be used across the engineering team.
  • Mentorship from experienced verification engineers and participation in real project deliverables.
  • Deep understanding of verification processes required to sign off digital designs for silicon.
