Job Description

NUH Internship Programme (Jan 2027 – Jun 2027)

Curious about the inner workings of a hospital Join NUH on a 6-month full time internship to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of healthcare organisations. Explore critical functions of hospital administration such as operations, human resource, communications, and quality improvement that support the smooth delivery of patient care.

Job Description

The intern will be posted to the Assistant Chief Operating Officer's (Central Operations) Office, where he/she will be part of a close-knit team supporting the smooth operations of the hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

a. Review Fire Safety in NUH

The intern will work closely with the Assistant Chief Operating Officer in the review of the NUH Fire Safety SOPs as part of the NUH Fire Safety Plan.

(1) Support the review of fire safety maintenance SOPs.

(2) Participate in initiatives to enhance fire safety standards and compliance across the hospital.

(3) Coordinate with internal stakeholders and service providers to track implementation progress.

(4) Support documentation, reporting, and process improvement efforts relating to fire safety management.

(5) Assist in the development of fire safety exercise scenarios.

b. Support the ICT Transformation Project

The intern will contribute to an ongoing ICT transformation project by supporting planning, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination activities.

(1) Assist in drafting project frameworks, roadmaps, and governance structures.

(2) Support stakeholder engagement activities to gather business requirements and operational needs.

(3) Prepare project documentation, meeting materials, and progress updates.

(4) Track project milestones, action items, risks, and dependencies to support project execution.

c. Assist in the Design and Conduct of a Hospital-wide Mass Casualty Exercise

The intern will support the planning and coordination of a large-scale hospital emergency preparedness exercise.

(1) Assist in coordinating logistics, planning timelines, and stakeholder communications.

(2) Support operational readiness activities and the preparation of exercise materials.

(3) Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies where required.

(4) Assist in documenting exercise outcomes, lessons learnt, and post-exercise reports.

Role Requirements

  • Undergraduate pursuing a degree from a recognised institution, with a keen interest in healthcare operations and management.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and collaborative healthcare environment.
