Role Summary
The Interior Designer is responsible for creating functional, safe, and aesthetically appealing indoor spaces. You'll manage projects from concept to completion, balancing client vision, budget, building codes, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client & Concept Development
- Meet with clients to determine needs, preferences, budget, and project scope.
- Conduct site visits and take measurements, photos, and notes of existing conditions.
- Develop mood boards, color palettes, and concept presentations to communicate design intent.
2. Design & Documentation
- Create 2D floor plans, 3D renderings, and detailed drawings using software like AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or 3ds Max.
- Select furniture, fixtures, finishes, lighting, materials, and color schemes that align with concept and budget.
- Specify products and prepare schedules for FF&E: Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment.
- Ensure designs comply with building codes, accessibility standards, and safety regulations.
3. Project Management
- Prepare cost estimates, project timelines, and material lists.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure design integrity during construction/installation.
- Source and procure materials negotiate pricing with vendors when required.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and resolve design issues on-site.
4. Presentation & Communication
- Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders incorporate feedback into revisions.
- Maintain clear documentation of changes, approvals, and communications.
- Stay current on design trends, sustainable materials, and new products.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field. NCIDQ certification preferred for senior roles
Experience
2+ years for Junior 5+ years for Senior. Portfolio of completed residential and/or commercial projects required
Technical Skills
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D rendering software. Familiar with building codes and ADA guidelines
Soft Skills
Strong visual/spatial awareness, communication, time management, client negotiation, attention to detail, problem-solving
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with sustainable design and LEED/WELL standards
- Knowledge of lighting design and MEP coordination
- Vendor relationships in furniture, textiles, or custom millwork
- Experience with both residential and commercial projects
Work Environment & Other Details
- Type: Full-time, part-time, or contract depending on firm
- Travel: Local site visits required occasional travel for sourcing or out-of-town projects
- Physical: Ability to visit construction sites, climb stairs, lift material samples up to 20 lbs
