Job Summary:

The Intellectual Property Manager is responsible for developing, protecting, and maximizing the value of MiRXES intellectual property portfolio across molecular diagnostics, biomarkers, assay technologies, software, algorithms, data-enabled products, and related platform innovations. This role will work closely with R&D, clinical, bioinformatics, regulatory, business development, and external patent counsel to identify inventions, drive patent filing and prosecution strategy, support freedom-to-operate and due diligence activities, and help translate innovation into durable strategic advantage. The ideal candidate combines strong IP expertise with practical commercial judgment and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced diagnostics and precision medicine environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

IP Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Develop and implement MiRXES IP strategy in line with business, product, and market expansion goals.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize the company's IP portfolio across patents, trade secrets, know-how, and related assets.
  • Identify and assess inventions arising from biomarker, assay, software, AI/ML, bioinformatics, and platform development.
  • Review portfolio priorities, filing strategy, jurisdiction coverage, and protection pathways.

Invention Harvesting and Patent Prosecution

  • Lead invention disclosure activities with internal teams and support invention evaluation.
  • Work with inventors and external counsel to prepare, file, prosecute, and maintain patent applications.
  • Manage patent-related documentation, deadlines, office action responses, and filing decisions.

Freedom-to-Operate and Risk Management

  • Conduct or support patent landscape, competitor, and freedom-to-operate analyses for key programs and products.
  • Identify and mitigate IP risks related to development, commercialization, partnerships, and market entry.
  • Monitor relevant IP trends and competitor activity in diagnostics, genomics, and digital health.

Licensing, Contracts, and Commercial Support

  • Support licensing activities, technology access arrangements, and IP-related due diligence.
  • Review and advise on IP terms in collaboration, research, service, confidentiality, data access, and commercial agreements.
  • Ensure contracts address ownership, inventorship, publication rights, confidentiality, and other key IP provisions.
  • Track key IP and licensing obligations, renewals, and contractual deliverables.

Governance and Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and improve internal IP processes, policies, templates, and tracking systems.
  • Provide IP training and guidance on invention capture, confidentiality, publication review, and trade secret protection.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to support effective IP management and reporting.

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics, biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, law, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred, such as PhD in a relevant scientific discipline, Juris Doctor, or equivalent IP/legal qualification.
  • 510 years of relevant experience in intellectual property management, patent strategy, technology transfer, patent prosecution support, or IP legal operations.
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics, genomics, life sciences, medtech, biotech, precision medicine, or related healthcare technology sectors strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external patent counsel and managing patent portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with biomarker-related inventions, assay technologies, clinical diagnostics, software/bioinformatics, AI/ML-enabled healthcare tools, or regulated healthcare products is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting licensing, collaboration agreements, due diligence, or FTO assessments is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of patent filing and prosecution processes across major jurisdictions such as Singapore, US, Europe, China, and other relevant markets.
  • Good grasp of patentability, novelty, inventiveness, written description, enablement, infringement risk, and freedom-to-operate principles.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear IP and commercial framework.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and external advisors simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • High level of discretion in handling confidential scientific, clinical, business, and strategic information.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, innovation-driven, cross-functional environment.
