IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer (Desktop & Data Centre)

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer to provide high-quality desktop support while also assisting with local data centre and infrastructure operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to end users, takes pride in keeping systems running smoothly, and is comfortable working in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

You will support both local office users and regional teams, while ensuring IT operations align with global standards, policies, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

Desktop & End-User Support

  • Set up, configure, and maintain Windows desktop environments, including hardware, software, security patches, and system health monitoring in line with global IT standards.
  • Provide first-line local and second-line regional desktop and office technical support, including incident identification, troubleshooting, resolution, and escalation.
  • Build strong working relationships with end users and deliver responsive, customer-focused IT support.
  • Support general office IT and facilities-related issues where required.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops and peripherals.
  • Manage user accounts and access, and contribute to continuous improvement of IT systems within your area of responsibility.

Local Data Centre Support

  • Support day-to-day operations of the local office and regional data centre, including:
  • Coordinating equipment deliveries
  • Installing servers and network equipment
  • Cable patching and basic rack-and-stack activities
  • Hardware inventory management
  • Ensure all work follows global data centre standards, security, and operational procedures.

IT Infrastructure & Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all IT hardware and software assets.
  • Assist with lifecycle management, upgrades, and replacements of IT equipment.
  • Support audits and compliance checks related to IT assets and infrastructure.

Knowledge & Skills

Required

  • 35 years of relevant experience in desktop support, IT operations, or infrastructure support.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with a focus on effective problem resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues or tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Windows environments (Windows 7 / 10 / 11) and Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable working under pressure, including extended hours during critical incidents when required.
  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail in inventory and asset management.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Confident in spoken and written English.
  • Practical experience supporting data centre or server room environments.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to regional or global IT support environments.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, servers, or virtualization.
  • Experience working in regulated, high-availability, or mission-critical environments.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take on broader infrastructure responsibilities over time.
