Industrial Engineering Manager

Role Purpose

As the Industrial Engineering Manager, the successful person will lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization responsible for building robust, scalable and efficient manufacturing processes across the product lifecycle. He/she will play a pivotal role in transforming new product concepts into stable, cost-effective and production-ready solutions, working closely with R&D, Operations and manufacturing sites to ensure successful New Product Introductions (NPI), product transfers and technology implementation.

This is a highly influential leadership position with responsibility for the quality, speed and cost of manufacturing execution. The role will shape manufacturing strategies, drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, champion automation and digitalization, and introduce innovative production technologies that strengthen operational performance. The person will also develop and coach a high-performing team spanning Value Stream Engineering, Process Engineering, Test Engineering and Smart Tools.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Industrial Engineering organization spanning Value Stream Engineering, Process Engineering, Test Engineering and Smart Tools, establishing clear priorities, performance objectives and capabilities aligned with business and manufacturing strategies.
• Drive New Product Introduction and industrialization activities, ensuring prototypes, pilot series and new products transition successfully into stable, scalable and cost-effective serial production while meeting defined quality, timing and cost targets.
• Partner closely with R&D and cross-functional stakeholders to embed Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) and Design-for-Assembly (DFA) principles into product development, ensuring products are optimized for manufacturability, quality, cost and scalability from the outset.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing value streams and production processes using Lean Manufacturing principles, including line balancing, production layout, workstation design, process flow and capacity optimization to improve productivity, flexibility and waste reduction.
• Lead the development, qualification and implementation of manufacturing technologies, including production equipment, automation, tooling, jigs, fixtures and product-specific test solutions, while identifying opportunities for innovation and technology advancement.
• Establish robust manufacturing standards and process controls, including work instructions, control plans, qualification protocols and testing procedures, ensuring consistent, repeatable and high-quality production performance.
• Lead Plant-to-Plant Transfers, Continuous Improvement Projects and technology implementation initiatives, collaborating with internal manufacturing sites, suppliers and global stakeholders to deliver sustainable improvements in quality, productivity, capacity and cost.
• Manage departmental resources, budgets and project portfolios, while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement and ensuring engineering projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  
  

Role Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electronic products manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership capacity within an international manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing and industrial engineering methodologies, with a solid understanding of manufacturing technologies relevant to electronic products, sensors or highly engineered products.
• Proven experience in manufacturing industrialization and NPI, including prototype and pilot builds, process validation, production equipment qualification, product transfers and transition to serial production.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, with the ability to develop talent, establish high-performing teams and effectively manage competing priorities and complex projects.
• Strong problem-solving and innovation mindset, with the ability to challenge conventional approaches, think laterally and develop practical, creative solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers and international manufacturing sites; business-fluent English is required.
• Resilient and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to manage conflict, navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions in complex or rapidly changing environments while maintaining a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes.
