We are seeking a Manager-level Legal Specialist(Inhouse lawyer) to join our Loan Syndication Team as part of our strategy to strengthen our syndication platform and enhance our arranger / MLAB capabilities.
The successful candidate will support syndicated loan transactions across execution, documentation review, structuring support, and legal risk assessment. This role sits within the business team rather than a dedicated internal legal department, and therefore requires a qualified lawyer who is able to work independently and provide sound, practical legal advice on transaction-related matters.
External law firms will support the drafting of new transaction documents where appropriate. However, the role requires independent legal review and analysis of documentation, as well as the ability to advise on waivers, amendments, and legal issues relating to stressed or defaulted assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute syndicated loan transactions in the primary and secondary market
- Review and negotiate syndicated loan documentation, including LMA-based and bilateral facilities
- Advise on covenants, conditions precedent, events of default, security structure, intercreditor arrangements, waivers, and amendments
- Support underwriting and arranger mandates from a legal and structuring perspective
- Provide legal advice on stressed or defaulted assets, including enforcement-related considerations
- Liaise with external counsel and internal stakeholders including risk, compliance, credit, and business teams
- Support internal credit, compliance, and reporting processes
- Contribute to internal documentation standards and execution processes
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer admitted to the Bar in a relevant jurisdiction
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in syndicated loans, banking legal work, or loan documentation
- Strong experience in reviewing and negotiating finance documents
- Familiarity with LMA documentation and syndicated loan structures
- Ability to independently assess legal issues and provide practical, business-oriented advice
- Experience in a bank, international law firm, or financial institution preferred
- Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Singaporean or Permanent Resident preferred
- Korean language capability is a plus
