Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced IBM Workload Scheduler to design, implement, and optimise batch job schedules across multiple platforms. The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement to ensure operational efficiency and system reliability.
Mandatory Skill-set
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, and/or Computer Science
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in job scheduling and automation using IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) for z/OS and distributed platforms (Linux, Unix, Windows)
- Must have experience in using ISPF, IWS, SDSF, and mainframe operations (z/OS, TSO, Console commands)
- Skilled in configuring and managing complex job dependencies across systems
- Must have experienced in creating, updating, and optimising scheduling plans in IWS to meet evolving business needs
- Capable of leveraging IWS tools and scripting to automate repetitive processes
- Strong analytical skills in generating and interpreting forecast plans and reports for capacity planning, performance monitoring, and SLA compliance.
Desired Skill-set
- Knowledge of other scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, AutoSys)
- Experience with cloud or hybrid environments.
Responsibilities
- Part of the Enterprise Production Team responsible for supporting scheduled production batch jobs (daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly) as well as ad-hoc job requests
- Design, implement, and maintain job schedules across distributed and mainframe platforms, ensuring accuracy of job conditions, rules, and dependencies in IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS)
- Monitor job runs, troubleshoot failures, execute corrective actions, and verify input/output availability for timely dispatch
- Analyse and optimise job performance to improve system reliability and efficiency
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and application teams, resolving conflicts and managing competing priorities
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and risk assessment to ensure business continuity
