HWA International School is committed to delivering world-class education through the IB programme. We are seeking an enthusiastic IB English A teacher who can inspire students to connect language, literature and culture while excelling in their academic journey.
Teaching duties
- Teach IB English A courses across MYP and DP.
- Develop stimulating lessons focusing on English and Literature skills.
- Prepare students for IB English A assessments, including oral and written tasks.
- Encourage appreciation of global perspectives through literature.
- Support students in refining critical reading and writing strategies.
- Mentor students to develop analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate through collaboration, planning and teaching, the IB and MYP/DP framework of concepts within contexts, and inquiry-based learning that is balanced with specific skills of how to learn, leading learning towards the IB vision and the aims of individual subject areas and that incorporates interdisciplinary teaching and learning
- Work and collaborate with Student Support Department to enrich curriculum and student learning
- To differentiate and target learning to students needs and aptitude levels
- Be culturally and linguistically responsive and proactive
Non-teaching duties:
- Understand and implement the expectations and policies established by HWA
- Participate in professional duties as necessary outside of the scope of the school day (e.g. Field trips, professional development on weekends as needed, and after school meetings as required)
- Supervise duties at break/lunch and/or other unstructured times
- Lead/coach an after school CCA (co-curricular activity)
- Assist in internal sub coverage according to department needs
- Provide any other reasonable duties delegated by the School
- Contribute to school continuous improvement by being a member of assigned committee or work group
- Responsible for homeroom teacher duties
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning.
Relationships
- Develop trust and effective relationships with all students in the classes and their parents
- Establish supportive, collaborative, and positive working relationships with all other members of staff
- Become a positive presence across the whole school and a representative of it within its wider community
Requirements:
- Degree in English, Literature, or related field IB training in English A is a plus.
- Proven experience in teaching IB English and Literature.
- 2 to 3 years of working experience in the related field is preferred
- Ability to motivate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of IB assessment criteria.
- Strong background in English and Literature instruction.
- Curriculum development knowledge is required
- Possess highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skill
