Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

Perform entry-level human resources and administrative duties in support of the hotel's Human Resources programs and philosophies. Provide basic employee assistance, often serving as initial point of contact for human resources-related matters.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL RETURNS:

  • Assist director and manager in the creation of and work within the established Human Resources department budget and control expenses.
  • Assist manager in monitoring staffing to manage costs.

PEOPLE:

  • Interview Line Associates
  • Liaison with recruitment agencies, hotel and schools
  • Co-ordinate work experience programs
  • Manage the on-line recruitment through the Hotel Website
  • Site inspections for schools, colleges, and universities
  • Correct and timely placement of internal and external advertisements
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback on reasons for turnover
  • Adherence to pre, during and post employment checklists
  • Ensure Staff and Manager awareness of HR Policies and procedures
  • Ensure information relating to industrial instruments is readily available to all Staff and Managers
  • Assist managers in developing work practices that are in line with OH &S policies
  • Manage performance management system and cycle of recruitment, induction, training, development, and succession for Levels 10 - 8and ensure process is adhered to for other positions
  • Assist with line staff counseling and career management
  • Assist line managers in the recruitment, induction, training, development, and succession for levels 3- 6.
  • Works with Training Manager or designate to Co-ordinate training such as:
  1. First Aid Courses, OH&S, Workplace Rehabilitation courses.
  2. Issue invitations to attend internal and external programs
  3. Maintain records of training attendance
  4. Implement Orientation
  5. Promote and facilitate cross training, job rotation, and multi skilling
  6. Conduct training for line Associates
  7. Conduct departmental skills audits
  • Initiate programs which foster good work relations such as social club and consultative committees
  • Maintenance of employee files
  • Maintenance and administration of OH&S workplace cases, as well as the management of rehabilitation programs
  • Manage standardized responses to correspondence
  • Prepares and administers detailed induction program for new staff
  • Regularly communicates with staff and maintains good relations
  • Interacts with guests and individuals outside the hotel including, but not limited to, current and potential clients, owning company representatives, suppliers, competitors and other members of the local community.

GUEST EXPERIENCE:

  • Assists in maintaining a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversees their implementation through ongoing training
  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS:

  • Adhere to time frames established by Head Office
  • Data Base Management
  • Provides input for probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONSAND REQUIREMENTS

Diploma in Human Resources, Training or Business Administration plus 1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Knowledge of Local Labour and Employment Regulations preferred. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Good communication skills and writing skills.
