Job Description

HR Director – Global Scope

Charterhouse is supporting an MNC in their search for their new HR Director to cover an almost worldwide scope - Candidates from a manufacturing background are preferred.

This role will manage a team of around 30 direct and indirect HR team members in a complex and highly matrixed structure - This person will need to have a proven ability in starting up new entities and complex operational processes.

Reporting to the CHRO, this role will require someone who is used to working in APAC, Middle East and LATAM in a time of active change and transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overseas HR operations across regional and country teams, ensuring compliant, efficient delivery aligned with Group HR standards.
  • Provide hands-on guidance on core HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, documentation, employee relations, performance processes and exits.
  • Establish service expectations, operating rhythms, escalation protocols and HR governance frameworks across overseas markets.
  • Develop and maintain foundational HR infrastructure, including local handbooks, employment templates, policies, approval matrices and country HR health checks.
  • Set minimum country HR standards covering contracts, probation, working hours, leave, benefits, disciplinary processes, grievances, termination and records management.
  • Advise on employee relations, industrial relations and people risk matters, including sensitive cases, investigations, restructuring, exits and employment disputes.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance and external advisors to manage local employment risk and protect the Company's interests.
  • Partner with regional business leaders on workforce planning, manpower budgets, headcount approvals and management reporting.
  • Support localization, capability building and succession planning for key overseas roles.
  • Coordinate global HR rollouts, policies, systems, processes and initiatives with Global HR teams and COEs.
  • Drive practical HR process implementation in countries where HR foundations are still developing.
  • Support annual HR cycles including salary review, bonus review, performance calibration, benefits governance and manpower cost tracking.
  • Identify compensation, benefits or employment practice inconsistencies that may create cost, compliance or employee relations risks.
  • Oversee international mobility and assignee arrangements, including secondment placements, postings, relocation support, expatriate benefits, allowances and repatriation.
  • Ensure cross-border hiring and mobility practices are compliant, cost-disciplined, equitable and aligned with business needs.
  • Coach and develop regional and country HR teams, strengthening capability in HR operations, policy interpretation, employee relations, compliance and business partnering.
  • Support engagement surveys, communities of practice and knowledge sharing to improve consistency and capability across overseas HR teams.
  • Monitor regulatory and HR practice developments, assess business implications and implement required changes.
  • Improve HR data quality, reporting discipline and governance, including country dashboards, manpower reports and risk updates.
  • Perform other initiatives, projects or duties assigned by the CHRO, including global HR or regional business projects.

Attributes

  • 15 years plus in leading global human resources strategy and operations including entity start up in a manufacturing environment in emerging countries
