Position Overview
The HR Director (Business Partnering) is a senior leadership role responsible for partnering business leaders to align people's strategies with organizational objectives. The role provides strategic HR advisory, leadership coaching, and oversight of workforce and organizational initiatives across multiple countries. This position supports country and regional leadership teams and contributes to organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and talent sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Business Partnering
- Partner senior business leaders to provide strategic HR advice aligned with business objectives.
- Advise on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and leadership effectiveness.
- Translate business priorities into effective people strategies and HR solutions.
- Serve as the HR liaison with Japan HQ and Japanese-speaking senior stakeholders, managing HR policy alignment, leadership matters, and people-related issues through direct communication in Japanese.
Organizational Development & Workforce Planning
- Support organizational reviews, workforce planning, and succession planning for key roles.
- Partner leadership teams on organizational design and capability development initiatives.
- Ensure workforce structures support business needs and long-term sustainability.
Change Management & Transformation
- Lead and support change management initiatives related to organizational transformation.
- Provide guidance to leaders during periods of change, restructuring, or business transition.
- Support HR related projects linked to strategic and operational transformation.
Mobility & Regional HR Oversight
- Provide oversight and governance for regional employee mobility and international assignments.
- Ensure alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with HR shared services and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth employee transitions.
Stakeholder & Risk Management
- Identify people related risks and work with stakeholders to address and mitigate issues.
- Collaborate with regional and headquarters stakeholders to ensure governance alignment.
- Promote consistent and fair HR practices across supported countries.
Reporting & Working Relationships
Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and works closely with senior business leaders and regional HR stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline. Professional HR certifications are advantageous.
Experience
- At least 15 years of progressive HR experience, including senior level HR business partnering.
- Experience supporting senior management in a regional or multinational environment.
- Strong exposure to organizational development, workforce planning, and change management.
- Experience working across multiple countries or regions is preferred.
