Heritage Collection Sales and Marketing Intern for New York office

About Us:

Heritage Collection is a homegrown boutique hotel management group which started in 2011. Living up to our namesake, we have been preserving Singapore's rich history and culture by making our heritage districts relevant for future generations. For us, relevance is achieved by a pragmatic balance of heritage conservation and innovation.

We have since expanded to Manhattan, New York and specialize in housing for college students.

About the Internship role:

6-month period - 2 Jan 2026 - 1 June 2026 (with possible 2-month extension). We are only hiring for this period. We are not hiring Summer Interns. You will spend 1 month training in Singapore and 5 months in New York for the rest of the internship.

This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring individuals to gain hands-on experience in one of the world's most dynamic cities.

Upon successful completion of the Internship, you could also be converted a full time role in Singapore.

Core Competencies you will be trained in during the 6-month Internship:

1. Cross-Cultural Sales & Communication

Cultural Intelligence (CQ)

  • You will learn to navigate different communication styles, from direct negotiation to high-context cultures where building rapport is a prerequisite for a sale.
  • Empathy and Trust Building: You will gain the skill of consultative sellingaddressing the anxieties of both the student and their parents (who are often the ultimate decision-makers).

2. NYC Real Estate Compliance

  • The Manhattan market has unique rules of engagement that differ from any other US city and you will learn:

i) Licensing Law Knowledge: Gain a working knowledge of NYC-specific housing laws

ii) Vetting & Financial Risk Assessment: Learn how to verify income and credit history

3. Negotiation & The Close

  • Learn to handle common questions related to price, room size, and commute times to NYU, Columbia, or The New School.
  • Master closing techniques which are vital in any sales career.

4. Operational & Digital Marketing Skills

  • Virtual Leasing: Since international students often can't tour in person, you will become an expert in conducting video tours
  • Lead Generation: You will likely manage listings on platforms and on our own property management system

Qualifications you need to possess:

  • You should either have a Bachelor's degree or enrolled in an undergraduate course
  • Due to the background of our tenants, you must be able to speak Chinese
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in a systematic and logical manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Internship stipend of S$2,000 with housing, weekday lunch and transportation provided for suitable candidates.
