Role

The Head of WP Asia is responsible to oversee and formulate WP offering in Asia, lead the regional WP team and monitor performance in line with group strategy and KPIs set by the Global Head of WP

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the Wealth Planning team in Asia.
  • Formulate and deliver the strategic plans to develop the Wealth Planning platform as an enhanced service offering of EFG Asia.
  • Responsible to train and develop Wealth Planners in the region to the desired level of standards as specified by Management.
  • Meet with clients and Client Relationship Offcers (CROs) to understand and identify client wealth planning needs and objectives and work with all relevant parties to assist in the processing and closure of these cases.
  • Discuss with clients and CROs wealth planning topics including insurance solutions, trust, foundations, companies, family office related matters and other complex structures to address these needs and objectives.
  • Conduct awareness training/discussions with CROs on relevant product updates & innovative positioning techniques in the wealth planning space.
  • Regional coordination of key external providers for Wealth Planning Solutions not available internally (e.g. life insurance, trust services).
  • Promote Wealth Planning concepts services and strategies though CRO sessions, client events, newsletters, marketing materials and internal education in line with standards set by Management.
  • Contribute to the Wealth Planning newsletters, marketing and other communications materials.

Insurance

  • Monitor, drive and supervise the insurance referral activity in Asia in line with group strategy.
  • Work closely with both insurance carriers and insurance brokers to deliver Universal Life Insurance (ULI) / Variable Universal Life (VUL) / PPLI offerings, Annuity plans. and other insurance solutions to high net worth clients.
  • Interact actively with all stakeholders internally (i.e. CROs, Credit, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Wealth Solutions and Clients) and externally (i.e. insurance brokers and carriers) on all related matters that enhance optimum productivity / profitability and establish processes to grow and monitor the insurance business.

Sklls And Qualifications

  • University degree in a Legal or Finance related discipline; preferably also holding additional qualifications linked to the area of interest (e.g. TEP, LL.M. in tax, etc.)
  • A demonstrated track record of managing wealth planning business ideally in an insurance / brokerage/private bank/trust company/ law or accounting firm.

In-depth Knowledge, Understanding And Experience Of

  • (U) HNW insurance solutions and premium financing.
  • The uses of wealth planning tools such as trusts, foundations, family office and companies.
  • Coordinating, understanding and challenging wider private client needs such as relocation services and legal advice for Greater China Area and Southeast Asia.
  • Methodical thinker with a proven ability to demonstrate exceptional analytical rigor and a passion for deep research to solve a diverse array of client challenges.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate and advise accomplished high net-worth individuals and present both physically and digitally to private clients and private banking colleagues alike.
  • Strong organisational skills, structured approach, strict adherence to legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Practical experience in creating client-ready proposals and presentations using the suite of Microsoft applications.
  • Languages: excellent command of English is required, excellent command of Mandarin is a strong advantage.
