We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Video Editors to lead and manage our teams of video editors. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and creative vision to ensure the delivery of high-quality video content across commercial, corporate, documentary, and event projects. You will oversee two groups of editors, driving efficiency, creativity, and excellence, while also fostering a healthy team culture and maintaining client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage groups of video editors, ensuring smooth workflows and high productivity.
- Mentor, guide, and inspire editors to improve technical and creative skills.
- Maintain team morale and wellbeing, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
- Ensure strong communication and alignment between editors, producers, and other departments.
Technical Excellence
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for software, hardware, and workflow issues.
- Standardise editing processes and maintain consistency in quality, pacing, and delivery.
- Ensure the team is up to date with industry best practices and emerging editing tools.
Creative Direction
- Guide editors on pacing, storytelling, and creative editing techniques.
- Review and provide feedback on edits to ensure high-quality output across all projects.
- Maintain creative standards across commercial, corporate, documentary, and event coverage projects.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Represent the editing team during client interactions, especially in live editing sessions.
- Clearly communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to clients and internal teams.
- Ensure client requirements and feedback are translated into actionable steps for the team.
Efficiency & Delivery
- Oversee project timelines and ensure on-time delivery without compromising quality.
- Implement efficient workflows and resource allocation to maximise team output.
- Monitor workload distribution and resolve bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading a team of video editors in a production house, agency, or similar environment.
- Strong technical expertise in video editing software (DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, etc.).
- Solid troubleshooting skills for both creative and technical challenges.
- Demonstrated creativity in pacing, storytelling, and editing techniques.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and motivate.
- Strong communication skills with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Organised, efficient, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
