Job Description

A fast-growing, DPT-licensed fintech is hiring a Head of Payments Operations to own and scale its end-to-end payments and financial services operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, compliance, and commercial efficiency of a multi-market payments ecosystem spanning fiat, stablecoins, e-wallets, BNPL, and alternative payment methods.

In this role, you will take full ownership of payments operations across cards, bank transfers, real-time payments, e-wallets, and APMs. You'll be accountable for transaction success rates, settlement and reconciliation, dispute and chargeback management, and operational SLAs across all markets. A key part of the role involves leading incident management and root-cause analysis, ensuring rapid resolution of payment failures while continuously improving operational resilience.

You'll lead payments operations across multiple jurisdictions, working closely with Compliance and Legal teams to operationalise regulatory requirements such as e-money safeguarding, AML/CFT controls, reporting, audits, and licensing obligations. This role acts as a key operational counterpart to regulators, auditors, and financial institution partners, supporting both ongoing supervision and future market expansion.

Commercial ownership is central to this role. You'll manage payment unit economics, including network fees, MDRs, gateway costs, and bank charges, and negotiate commercial terms with banks, payment networks, processors, and fintech partners.

As a senior leader, you'll work hand-in-hand with Product and Engineering teams to build API-driven, automation-first operations. You'll translate regulatory and operational requirements into system and product specifications, and ensure operational readiness for new product launches, payment method rollouts, and market entries.

Deep hands-on knowledge of payment rails, settlement mechanics, and regulatory frameworks is essential, as is strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating complex partnerships. Prior experience scaling e-wallets, BNPL, or embedded finance products will be highly valued.
