Head of Pathology / Consultant Pathologist Private Medical Lab HVN

About the Role

A private medical laboratory is seeking an experienced anddriven Consultant Pathologist to lead the pathology department as Chief ofDepartment. You will oversee diagnostic services, laboratory quality,accreditation, staff management, and clinical governance while working closelywith clinicians, clients, and management.

Key Responsibilities

. Provide diagnostic reporting in histopathology,cytopathology, and/or clinical pathology

. Lead and manage the pathology department,including pathologists, lab technologists, and support staff

. Ensure accurate, timely, and high-qualitydiagnostic services

. Develop and review SOPs, quality control, andquality assurance programmes

. Drive laboratory accreditation and compliance(e.g. ISO 15189, CAP, or equivalent)

. Oversee clinical governance, audits, incidentinvestigations, and risk management

. Manage department budget, resources, equipment,and inventory

. Liaise with clinicians, hospital partners, andexternal clients

. Support business development, new testofferings, and strategic planning

. Provide teaching, training, and mentorship tolaboratory staff

. Participate in research and continuousimprovement initiatives

Requirements

. MBBS / MD or equivalent medical degree

. Specialist qualification in Pathology (e.g.FRCPath, M Med Pathology, or equivalent)

. Valid medical registration and specialistaccreditation (e.g. SMC / SAB or equivalent)

. Minimum [X] years of experience as a ConsultantPathologist

. Prior leadership or departmental managementexperience preferred

. Experience in a private medical laboratory orhospital laboratory setting

. Strong leadership, communication, anddecision-making skills

. Able to commit to a full-time permanent role
