We are looking for a Head of Operations (SEA) to join our team in Sulzer Singapore Pte Ltd.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

Operations Strategy & Direction

  • Responsible for the effective execution of all services work across the region including oversight of Service Centers in all sub-regions, governance of project management and field service.
  • Primary KPIs include regional revenue, Service Center operations and budget performance related to COGS/Other COGS costs.
  • Implements effective business strategies and structures, playing a fundamental role in shaping the future of the regional business.

Service Centre Management

  • Actively manage absorption (in partnership with Head of Sales), warranty, non-conformance (NCC) and cost of poor quality (CoPQ) costs in shop and field operations. Implement corrective actions as needed to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure that Safe Systems of Work are developed and implemented for all activities through risk assessment and operating procedures.
  • Establish and implement benchmark SC standards and ways of working, lead implementation across entire region.
  • Actively manage SC costs, reduce burden rates, lead capex implementation efforts, ensure visibility and sharing of inventory across the network.
  • Establish EAPA SC network - sharing tooling, capability and resources to capture full value and benefit of region wide footprint.
  • Develop potential service partners across region to expand Services footprint, look for potential acquisition targets to expand capabilities.

Project Management

  • Manage project management network, providing the means to implement PM Excellence methods across region.
  • Provide oversight and direction on ongoing projects, ensure timely, on budget delivery to plan.
  • Develop tools and processes to standardize project management across region.

Field Service

  • Manage field service capabilities across region, develop competency of the FS organization ensuring sufficient capability to execute projects.
  • Ensure cooperation across sub-regions to drive full utilization of FS team across projects.
  • Manage tooling across regions ensuring adequate coverage with minimum additional investment.

Operations Excellence Implementation

  • Provide input to capex investment plans across region, identifying areas with the largest potential returns.
  • Represent EAPA on Division wide programs, actively manage selection and implementation of EAPA initiatives.
  • Work with peer global regional Heads of Operations for best practice sharing across Division.
  • Manage cost reduction/efficiency improvement programs across region.

Sub-Region Enablement & Collaboration

  • Partner with Sub-regional Heads and Operations Leads to develop local SC capabilities, improve local processes, maintain highest standards of QESH and operational efficiency across region
  • Act as a reporting, mediating and/or problem-solving entity between the customer and internal organization to prevent escalation or claims.
  • Contribute proposals for (new) products and/or services.
  • Partner with regional Head of Sales on handover of projects from sales to operations phases

People Development & Capability Building

  • Develop and coach operations teams to develop competencies across organization and build succession planning funnel

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Technical/ Engineering university degree
  • Master's in business administration (desirable)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, other languages within SEA region an advantage
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
