Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Head of IT provides strategic technology leadership and executive-level oversight for technology delivery and operations for Prudential Bermuda. Accountable for establishing and governing a fit-for-purpose enterprise systems architecture and operating model that enables the highest levels of operational excellence and the bespoke/flexible service expected by our High Net-Worth distributors and customers, the role balances local business priorities with regional and global technology standards. The position drives service performance, resilience, risk and control outcomes, and cross-functional partnership, ensuring technology is a trusted enabler of business growth and differentiation through industry-leading operational and systems support.

Key Accountabilities

IT Service Delivery & Operations (40%)
Provide end-to-end leadership for IT service delivery and operations, setting the technology operating model and directing the evolution of systems architecture that supports the highest levels of operational excellence and bespoke/flexible service for the Bermuda business.

  • Assure reliable delivery of IT services to the LBU (measured via operational KPIs e.g. service level agreement standards business user satisfaction scores)
  • Provide executive oversight of local IT infrastructure and applications
  • Provide governance and oversight of incident, problem, and change management processes (measured via Incident resolution times and first-call resolution rates)
  • Direct engagement with regional shared services to secure specialized support
  • Hold local vendors and service providers accountable for performance and delivery


Business Partnership (25%)
Partner with Prudential Bermuda leadership as the senior technology advisor, shaping and translating business vision and requirements into a coherent systems and operational roadmap.

  • Serve as the primary IT interface to BU leadership
  • Sponsor the translation of business requirements into technology solutions
  • Champion local business process improvement initiatives enabled by technology
  • Ensure business users are enabled through appropriate training and support on technology solutions
  • Provide oversight for local projects

Compliance & Standards (20%)
Establish and govern IT frameworks, processes and operating controls aligned with business objectives, global technology standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring clear accountability for compliance, audit readiness and information security outcomes at the local business unit level.

  • Ensure adoption and enforcement of global/regional technology standards
  • Assure local compliance with policies and controls
  • Oversee execution of cybersecurity measures at LBU level
  • Ensure local documentation and procedures are maintained and audit-ready
  • Collaborate the Global Information Security Officer to ensure no adverse audit or regulatory findings on IT/information security matters

Financial Management (10%)
Provide executive stewardship of the local IT financial plan, ensuring robust governance and effective procedures are in place to set, manage and optimize the IT budget within approved levels, balancing service resilience, regulatory commitments and strategic investment priorities.

  • Own and manage local IT budget within the approved annual budget
  • Provide governance-level tracking and reporting of local IT expenditures
  • Drive optimization of local technology costs

Team Management (5%)
Build, lead and develop a high-performing IT team and vendor ecosystem, setting direction, standards and culture to support Prudential Bermuda's staff across Bermuda, Singapore and Hong Kong with consistent, service-oriented delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 15 years of experience within Life & Health Insurance industry
  • Fluency in English with demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executives, regulators, and global technology stakeholders across multiple geographies. Willingness and flexibility to travel to support leadership engagement and delivery oversight.


Skills & Competencies

  • Extensive Insurance Industry Expertise:
    Deep, hands-on experience across Life and Health Insurance, including direct insurance operations, underwriting, policy administration, claims, and customer servicing. Strong understanding of regulatory expectations, risk and control environments, and operating models across Asia and offshore jurisdictions. Industry certifications from globally recognised institutions (e.g. LOMA, FLMI)are strongly preferred.
  • Greenfield and Transformation Leadership:
    Proven track record in establishing and scaling technology capabilities for new business initiatives and large-scale transformation programmes, including greenfield implementations, platform modernisation, and legacy system sunset and migration. Demonstrated ability to balance speed of delivery with operational stability, regulatory compliance, and long-term scalability.
  • Technology Engineering, Architecture &Cloud Expertise:
    Significant experience leading enterprise architecture, solution design and systems integration for complex insurance ecosystems. Strong architectural judgement spanning policy administration systems, digital channels, data platforms, workflow engines, and emerging technologies. Deep experience with cloud platforms-particularly Microsoft Azure-and hybrid operating models. Prior hands-on experience in Prudential Systems like Life/Asia implementation is desirable
  • Operational Excellence & Service Leadership:
    Strong background in IT service delivery, operations and governance, including incident, problem and change management across large, distributed environments. Demonstrated capability to improve service resilience, reduce operational risk, uplift SLA performance, and manage large-scale vendor and outsourcing partnerships.
  • Data, Analytics & Digital Enablement:
    Advanced expertise in leveraging data platforms, analytics and AI-enabled solutions to drive operational efficiency, customer experience improvement, and management decision support. Proven ability to translate data insights into measurable business outcomes.
  • Programme, Portfolio & Change Management:
    Established leader of multi‑million‑dollar, cross‑geography digital and IT programmes with strong governance, risk management and financial stewardship. Experience overseeing complex delivery portfolios, managing delivery risk, and ensuring alignment with business strategy. Formal programme and project management credentials (e.g. MSP, PMP, SAFe) are highly desirable.
  • Stakeholder & Leadership Capability:
    Demonstrated success as a senior technology leader partnering closely with CEOs, business executives and regional/global technology teams. Strong people leadership capability with experience building, leading, and developing high‑performing, multicultural teams and ecosystems of strategic technology partners. Recognised for integrity, execution excellence, collaboration, and customer‑centric leadership.
