Job Description

We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the regional finance function for a leading global insurer. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for financial governance, performance management, and long-term business planning across multiple markets. The ideal candidate will bring deep insurance experience, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence strategic decisions at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the overall financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the region.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to shape business strategy, drive profitability, and support sustainable growth.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide strategic decision-making.

Financial Governance & Controls

  • Oversee statutory reporting, regulatory submissions, and compliance with local and international financial standards (e.g., IFRS, MAS guidelines).
  • Ensure robust financial controls, risk management frameworks, and governance practices are maintained across all regional entities.

Performance Management

  • Monitor financial KPIs, business performance, and variance analysis to support timely and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency, cost discipline, and capital management.

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Actuarial, Risk, Operations, Distribution, Claims) to align financial priorities with business objectives.
  • Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a high-performing regional finance team.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA, CA, CFA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 1215 years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles within insurance or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, regulatory frameworks, and insurance financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence C-suite stakeholders, and manage complex multi-market operations.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in transformation projects, system migration, or finance modernization is an advantage.
